Released on January 5, 2010, the Google Nexus was a major surprise in the phone industry. It runs the newly developed Google Android 2.1 (Eclair) operating system with unique features such as live wallpaper. Once a Google Nexus user gets their phone, they can access the vast Android market of 20,000+ applications of all 
types. Lately, applications for the Android OS have quickly increased as developers see the system as a potential target for phone-buyers. You can also save lots of money by purchasing a 2-year unlimited plan for the Nexus, totaling $2,448.76, a much cheaper solution than the iPhone’s $3,799 two year contract. Hardware-wise, the Nexus One is also a good choice. It features a Snapdragon processor, capable of playing high-frame-rate video very well. For connectivity, it boasts a GPS receiver, Bluetooth 2.1, and powerful 802.11n-capable hardware. (though it is enabled for only 802.11b/g) Possibly one of the most attractive features of the Nexus however, is the 5.0 megapixel auto-focus camera, complete with LED flash and digital zoom. And 5 megapixels is all most consumers will need, keeping into mind that only a few years ago, 5 megapixel cameras were hundreds of dollars. When it comes to modern smartphones, many have touchscreens. The touchscreen accuracy varies on each device though. Overall, the Google Nexus One is a great smartphone to have, despite its enormous costs. The open-source system that Nexus integrates is a must-have that may define all phones in the future. By getting the Nexus One, you too can step into the future.
